When you can’t find musee d’orangerie

Today I ended up completely by accident at theJeu de Paume, where an exhibition on Berenice Abbott was being held. Prior to this trip, I had absolutely no idea who this Berenice was, other than that she shared the last name of Harry Potter character Hannah Abbott. Anyway, the exhibit was beautiful, her photography (yes, she’s a photographer apparently) ranging from rural America to portraits of the bourgeois of Paris in the 1930’s. Sometimes I looked upon a photo and thought, “I could’ve done this”, but then felt guilty because she was so well known. There was one particular exhibit, in which she had to portray certain scientific processes, that was absolutely moving to me. The processes were hard enough to understand on paper, but that she could visualize them and capture them in photographs was astonishing.
