To all of the high school seniors who didn’t make it into their top choice

You’re going to be fine. We make it into the schools we’re supposed to make it into, into the schools we’re meant to be at. Some schools see our potential as human beings, but don’t necessarily see us succeeding at that specific institution. Don’t think of rejection as a sign of incompetence. This time last year, I got rejected from my top choice, Duke University. That was my end of the world then, but at the same time this year I can say proudly that I’m at the University of Southern California and I couldn’t be happier. I would never transfer. We end up where we’re supposed to be. College is what you make of it. Don’t let one rejection get you down. You’re going to be fine.
